Welcome to the May 2024 edition of the WebCargo Digital Air Cargo (DAC) Monthly Report. Air cargo rates from China to North America and Europe surged over 30% in April, reaching $5.65/kg and $4.37/kg, driven by sustained B2C e-commerce demand.
In April, eBooking adoption continued to grow, with Singapore Airlines that joined the WebCargo platform with routes from the Netherlands. Qatar Airways Cargo added new routes from Europe to EVN and TBS and increased its maximum bookable weight and capacity for shipments from Kenya, Silk Way West added eBookings from Switzerland, Air Canada Cargo launched eBookings from Mexico City (MEX) and Felipe Ángeles (NLU), and American Worldwide Agencies launched for shipments from the United States to Australia
WebCargo launched digital interlining for airlines nearly a year ago, so this month’s highlights section features comments from some airlines already leveraging digital interlining to form new partnerships on the platform. These carriers share their motivation for trying the new solution and some of the benefits they’re already realizing.
