90% of everything we eat, wear or use is shipped…

But freight is stuck in the ’90s. The Freightos Marketplace and freight rate management platform are game-changers.

And we’re always looking for passionate team players to help us.

Corporate Counsel (maternity leave cover)

Jerusalem, Israel · Full-time

About The Position

International freight. Didn’t sound fancy… until suddenly it was impossible to get toilet paper at supermarkets in 2020, right? Exactly. Global freight matters.

Look around for a second.

Everything you wear, eat, or use comes from somewhere. And freight makes it happen.

With $19 trillion of goods shipped annually, you’d think global supply chains are a smoothly ticking Swiss watch. Think again. And that’s where Freightos comes in. We make global trade frictionless, building the world’s largest global freight booking and payment platform. We connect hundreds of airlines, trucking companies and ocean liners with over 3,500 global freight companies and over ten thousand importers, from name brands to small sellers on Amazon. We’re the leading global freight booking platform, regularly appearing everywhere from the Wall Street Journal and UN reports to White House press conferences and CNN and, to add the proverbial freight icing on the global trade cake, we are a public company, trading on Nasdaq (#CRGO!)

Come help change global trade.

While we help the world move, we need to make sure we cross our t’s and dot our i’s. So we’re looking for a talented attorney who can juggle several balls at once (dare we say chainsaws?) and bring creative legal and business solutions to some of our biggest opportunities.

The road to your success in the role relies on great communication and organization skills mixed with the ability to go with the flow, strong Pokemon Go skills (but willing to let that one go), the ability to think creatively and assertiveness (with tact). You’ll work with both internal stakeholders (see, we do use fancy business words too) as well as partners and customers to draft and negotiate commercial agreements, while advising business partners on opportunities, risk, and whether their virtual Zoom background is kinda “eh”. All because you understand that we are in business to provide services that our customers need and love - or at least appreciate.

You will work with cross-functional teams, from geeky accountants to high-powered sales people, self-centered marketers who entertain themselves by throwing lines like these into job descriptions, HR professionals with incredibly high EQ’s, and customer service associates to help ensure that the company acts ethically and legally.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and efficient legal advice to management, sales, product development, marketing, and finance teams. You can even advise them on whether to use roman numerals in lists or not. We hope you stick with not.
  • Be primary point of contact for our talented and diverse HR team in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage and negotiate agreements with customers, vendors, business partners, and other parties, including terms of use, license agreements, and other contracts. We get to do this with some of the world’s largest companies in the world so yes, your LinkedIn will be impressive.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as data privacy and, well, the law.
  • Assist with developing and overseeing company policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs.
  • Support corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (or M&As, as the cool kids say).
  • If a contract is negotiated and lost, is it really a contract? You’ll help us stay on top of our game by maintaining and improving systems and workflows, use data in our legal department, including by leading the use of our contract management database.
  • Stay up-to-date on legal developments and conduct legal research.
  • Assist with statutory filings, licensing forms, company registration, trademarks and legal name changes of our pet fish. Obligatory disclaimer: we do not yet have any pet fish. However you will be primarily responsible for keeping your manager’s bamboo plant alive.
  • Liaise with outside counsel regarding their assignments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of legal practice: commercial or corporate law at a law firm or inhouse
  • Qualified to practice law in Israel
  • Experience working with or in a technology company is a definite plus; using Gmail doesn’t really count
  • Understanding of legal issues and business needs and how to balance them
  • Organized, meticulous, insightful, practical, and deeply in love with most Pixar movies (the key is “most”)
  • Ability to execute in a cross-organizational role with a can-do collaborative approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
