What isn’t measured doesn’t change.
Welcome to the October 2024 edition of the WebCargo Digital Air Cargo (DAC) Monthly Report. Air cargo rates from China – N. America increased 9% to $5.91/kg in September on continued pressure from e-commerce volumes, though some ocean to air shift from a port worker strike in the US – and possibly the beginning of peak season pressure, pushed rates past the $7/kg mark to start October.
In September, eBooking adoption expanded further with HNA Cargo and Qantas Freight joining the WebCargo platform. Other developments at WebCargo included Air Canada Cargo adding services from Brazil, Air China (Cainao) and, ASL Belgium (represented by China Line Services) adding from France to China. Air India and Azerbaijan Airlines (represented by Euro Cargo Aviation UK) launching from the UK, and Emirates SkyCargo to Madagascar. Overall, airlines representing 73% of the industry’s capacity now offer eBookings—an impressive 21% year-over-year growth.
